This program focuses on supporting destitute school-aged children to attend pre-schools, primary, secondary and tertiary schools.
Target children are provided with education materials, uniforms and bags, while their parents are supported with food items, blankets and household utensils. Parents whose houses are dilapidating are supported to renovate their houses.
On top of this, the program deals with enhancing school infrastructures and improving the quality of education where the target children are learning.
The program deals with building a strong foundation for lifelong physical, emotional, social & mental health that enhances readiness of children to be successful at school and later in life. In line with this, EAKBC-WDA has been working on enhancing Early Child Development & Education for disadvantaged children (0-6). It fosters social protection and safeguarding mechanisms for prevention and response to violence against children. It combats child labor, child marriage, FGM/infibulation and other harmful traditional practices.
In addition, it introduces improved WaSH schemes at Community Based Early Child Development & Education (ECDE) centers, at Government ECDE centers & at households.
The program also includes Functional Adult Literacy projects.
